About Red White & Blues

Formed from the ashes of the groups Skin and Jagged Edge, RED WHITE & BLUES are a hard rock band from the old school. Educated the classic way, their belief in powerful riffs, hummable choruses and classy vocals is unshakable.

Says guitarist Myke Gray: “We have tried to get back to the vibe of Whitesnake, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Motley Crue, AC/DC and the first album Montrose – the type of bands that made you feel joyous as kids. When we made our own album, we wore those influences on our sleeves.”

There’s no doubt that this nostalgic approach has paid off handsomely. The band’s debut album, ‘Shine’, has been greeted by sensational reviews and is now onto its third pressing.

The UK’s Classic Rock magazine called it “A right little belter”, while Fireworks magazine glowed: “This is a stunning debut album, packed with superbly crafted, deluxe classic rock.”

RED WHITE & BLUES have already achieved much. They opened for Bon Jovi at London’s Hard Rock Calling Festival and have supported such heavyweights as Chickenfoot, The Quireboys, Steel Panther and Whitesnake – the latter with the endorsement of David Coverdale. In June the band will warm up for Lynyrd Skynyrd on the latter’s three British dates before making a prestigious return to the legendary Download Festival at Donington Park.

The band spring to life following the dissolution of Myke Gray’s previous act Skin, a group that enjoyed a run of six Top Ten singles. Joining him on vocals in RED WHITE & BLUES is Matti Alfonzetti, a Swede with truly golden set of tonsils. Gray and Alfonzetti were members of the band Jagged Edge during the early 1990s. Besides Jagged Edge, Alfonzetti has played with and fronted various acts including Skin Trade, Bam Bam Boys, Boxer and Road To Ruin. He has also released several solo albums, the most recent of which being last year’s ‘Here Comes The Night’, and worked as a producer and writer for the likes of The Poodles. Alfonzetti also oversaw the recording of ‘Shine’, which is available from: www.theredwhiteandblues.com.

Raised on the timeless music of the 1970s, Matti’s vocal influences include Paul Rodgers, Otis Redding, David Coverdale, Stevie Wonder and Joyce Kennedy of the US funk-rockers Mothers Finest. His performance on ‘Shine’ is exemplary.

As implied by the name, RED WHITE & BLUES are marginally heavier, dirtier and rawer than Skin, though the group’s songs retain the same celebratory feel. “I’ve always believed that rock music should make you smile,” comments Myke Gray. “It’s meant to be a force for the positive.”

Sure enough, tunes like ‘Stand Up For Rock & Roll’, ‘Girls And Guitars’ and ‘Set My Sights On You’ are a joyful reminder of better, less complicated days.
